Duan Gauche will show how to place your parts list in Arbortext Editor. He’s going to show a small app that he developed that opens a Creo Illustrate file and then automatically inserts the parts list from the selected figure into your editor session at the current position of the cursor.

Michael Hahn is the principal at Alphabetical by Author. He has almost twenty years’ experience with markup language (SGML and XML) development and implementation. He has managed analysis session meetings and prepared reports for a wide variety of information types for manufacturers, scientific and professional organizations, commercial publishers, defense contractors, and education-related organizations.

He’s familiar with authoring tools including Adobe Framemaker, Arbortext, Oxygen, and XMetal; and has worked with industry and international standards including DITA, DocBook, S1000D, and ATA and MIL specifications. In addition to his consulting, Michael has spent time at companies of different sizes and in different industries, including time at a content management solution vendor, a hallmark SGML/XML consulting company, and an XML company that did foundational/seminal work.

Although Michael has spent most of his time working in the XML and SGML industry, he has also published more than one hundred-thirty short stories in five electronic publications, and served for three years as the Assistant Editor of one such publication. He’s a frequent presenter and author and has served on the peer review committee for several conferences. As the Product Manager for XML Publishing and Layout Applications at PTC, Simon spends his time “thinking about putting content on pages”. He has defined the requirements for several full product releases, presented at numerous conferences, represented PTC and product during sales processes and otherwise successfully managed these complex products. Before becoming a Product Manager, he was Application Engineer for Arbortext and PTC, he was a Technical Consultant delivering APP-based publishing solutions to customers, and has spent much of his time managing, paginating, editing, and developing STM books and journals, and he has recruited, managed and trained a number of new starters.

Create XUI dialogs to allow editing metadata stored as attributes/elements.
Take advantage of “calculated attribute values” to aggregate metadata putting complex “calculations” into ACL and simplifying the stylesheet.
Combine these two techniques to produce multiple Tables of Contents or, more accurately, “Lists of Impact.”
